Dogpatch, USA

Your ticket to Dogpatch is waiting...
.html Imagine owning Dogpatch - that fantastic land where hillbillies (and Shmoos!) ran wild in Al Capp's Li'l Abner strip. It would be a dream that could still come true, seeing as the sale of the only Dogpatch theme park in existence just ended last week on eBay - with no bids.

The Dogpatch theme park, located on almost 150 acres of land in the very gorgeous Marble Falls, AR, went for sale with a minimum bid set at $1 million.

The park, which was built in 1968, closed in 1993. It was sold at auction in 1994. The people who bought it that year are now trying to sell it again after surviving a court challenge to their ownership in 1999. Ford Carr, one of the owners, believes the theme park was at one time making a profit before it got entangled in a bitter divorce case. Carr says his family owned the property before they sold it to the original theme park developers in the late 1960s. The theme park went through about four owners before it closed - and from the looks of it, it may be getting ready for yet another one...
