CGC’s Senior Grader Mark Haspel grades a Captain America #1

Last week, we reported that CGC was debuting their On-Site Certification service at Wizard World Chicago. By all accounts, the new service was a great success. According to Primary Grader Steve Borock, “The reaction to On-Site Certification was phenomenal, and customers loved it.” CGC graded over 600 books at Wizard World Chicago and received numerous comics to take back to their home office for grading there also. The volume of books submitted for certification was very large with numerous customers congregating at the CGC booth to submit comics. “We were not expecting this type of volume,” remarked Steve Borock. CGC also certified five 10.0's during the Wizard World Chicago Con. The certified 10.0 Gem Mint comics included Supreme Powers #1, Thor: Vikings #1, Trinity #1, Slice and Rook #6, and Formerly the Justice League #1.

Toronto comic stores Paradise Comics and 3rd Quadrant each received two 10.0 Gem Mint comics back from CGC. 3rd Quadrant was the first dealer to submit books at the show and receive two certified 10.0 Gem Mint. The comics were Formerly Known as the Justice League #1 and Trinity #1.

Paradise Comics also received two certified 10.0 Gem Mint graded comics, Supreme Powers #1 and Thor: Vikings #1. "It's always nice to get a 10.0 Gem Mint comic as they are few and far between. Now is the perfect time, with the new improved label and on site grading. Being the first books out there is definitely generating interest on eBay,” commented Peter Dixon from Paradise Comics.

The certified 10.0's of Supreme Powers and Thor Vikings #1 have already entered the marketplace and can be found on eBay. Currently the Supreme Powers #1 10.0 Gem Mint is at $250.00 with four days to go and Thor Vikings #1 is at $150.00. CGC will next offer on site certification at the Wizard World Dallas in November.
