That Pepsi Girl And Comics

Mandy Amano, who starred in a Pepsi Super Bowl commercial, has comic book connections.

Next time you have a few minutes, try searching "Mandy Amano Pepsi Girl" on Google. You'll come up with several replies, the best one of which is http://thatpepsigirl.blogspot.com, a site that sprung up after Ms. Amano's commercial ran for the first time during the Super Bowl. It seems that she has an instantly adoring public.

She has several distinct comic book connections. First and foremost, she's the daughter of Jeff Amano, the highly talented writer-artist and creative dynamo at Beckett Comics (we're big fans).

She was also the model artists Billy Tucci and Mark Sparacio used for a couple different issues of Tucci's Shi comic book.

For his part, Tucci said he's not surprised at her success.

"Whenever people see her, they think she's beautiful. When they get to know her, they find out they're right," he told Scoop.

Amano also counts on creators like David Mack (Kabuki), who told the site, "Mandy's family and I really appreciate the attention that you have called to her role in the Pepsi commercial. It is fascinating to see such a reaction to your blog."

Congratulations to Mandy (and to her dad, who we imagine is pretty proud himself)!
