CGC Certifies Don Rosa Collection
Disney comic book artist Don Rosa and Steve Wyatt of Super Con Comics have
brought Don's collection of 1970s- and 1980s-vintage comics to CGC to be
pedigreed, certified and encapsulated. A portion of the collection will debut at
Comic-Con International: San Diego this week.
Don Rosa' name and art
style among is one of the most recognized of modern Disney comics creators. His
first Disney work, Son of the Sun, was published by Gladstone in July
1987. It was nominated for a Harvey Award and one of his most celebrated
projects, The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck, won an Eisner Award.
Life and Times was first released in series by Danish Publisher Egmont
from 1991 through 1993. It was reprinted in the United States by Gladstone, and
Gemstone Publishing has just released a collection of the entire series, which
is available now and may be seen at the Gemstone booth at Comic Con. Don Rosa
has a much larger fan base in Europe, where Disney Duck comics are perennial
bestsellers, than in his native United States. Nonetheless, here and abroad,
many of his readers enjoy his drawings' exacting details and his stories' subtle
references to other artists and to his favorite works of fiction. Don is also
considered a learned historian amongst comic collectors.
So stop by the
Super Con booth # 1302 this weekend, say hello to Steve Wyatt, and check out the
many CGC certified comic books in the Don Rosa collection.
