The Secret Origin of Duck Avenger!

Donald Duck... international man of mystery? Our foul-tempered fowl is a loser in daily life; but like a webfooted Walter Mitty, he escapes now and then to take on some heroic secret identities! Like being a monster hunter for the government's Tamers of Nonhuman Threats (TNT). Or a superhero -- the notorious Duck Avenger! But alas, Donald Duck can never be valiant and noble for long. Check out Donald Duck Adventures Take-Along Comic 18, a $7.95, 128-page manga format book, and you'll see what we mean!

Lars Jensen's and Flemming Andersen's “Let's Get Kraken” brings us into action with TNT! When tycoon John D. Rockerduck hunts a Kraken for his marine park, various parties are opposed to its capture: Fethry Duck, Donald's socially aware cousin; Uncle Scrooge, owner of a competing marine park; and TNT, whose Head knows the danger that a captive Kraken might pose. In no time, a skeptical Donald is in secret agent gear again, fighting against time to sabotage Rockerduck's expedition. And of course, Donald's noble goal spirals into a life-threatening comedy of errors!
“Legacy,” pairing writer Andreas Pihl with famed Danish artist Mårdøn Smet, sends Donald back into action as the Duck Avenger -- with a hitch! See, Donald was never intended to become a superhero. The hero's gear that Donald found, long ago, in a deserted house was really meant for his stuck-up cousin Gladstone Gander. Desperate to be a hero, Donald snitched Gladstone's role from under his unsuspecting beak... and now Phantom Duck, the long-ago Robin Hood who set Gladstone up for the “honor,” is back to see how he's doing at it! Will Phantom Duck discover Donald's duplicity? And what happens when the giant supervillain Dr. Nemeziz gets involved? Join us to see who gets stuck with all the super bad luck! And then stick around for this issue's backup story: “Blot Clot,” bringing Mickey Mouse and the Phantom Blot together for a fearsome outer space chase.
