Spider-Girl Returns in New Series
Making her first appearance in Marvel Comics' What If... #105, May
Parker (a.k.a. Spider-Girl) is getting a second lease on life. Well, actually a
third. Back in 1998, Marvel gave Spider-Girl her own title of the same name
under their M2 line.
Spider-Girl, the only title to remain after
the cancellation of the M2 line, went on to become the longest running superhero
title with a female lead ever to be published by Marvel Comics. Despite the
threat of cancellation looming over the title several times, fans rallied to
save the title and now the character is set to make a third comeback in this
October.
The Amazing Spider-Girl #0, a 48-page special, will serve
as a jumping on point for new readers, as well as a way for longtime fans to
relive May's greatest moments. Following the special, the first issue of The
Amazing Spider Girl, written Tom DeFalco with art by Ron Frenz, will hit
store with an amazing alternate cover by Ed McGuinness.
With one of the
greatest fanbases in all of comics, Spider-Girl, it seems, will be here for the
duration.
