The Saved Whiskers Rescue Organization, Inc. (S.W.R.O.) has just received a piece of original Batman art from artist Jae Lee to be auctioned off to benefit the animal rescue. The original piece is currently being auctioned off on eBay and will be ending this coming Monday, September 25, 2006. The portrait of the Dark Knight measures 11”x17” and is completely finished pencils and inks.

“This is one of the first Batman pieces I drew, to 'warm up' and get ready for Batman: Jekyll and Hyde,” said Lee in a recent press release. “While reviewing my art to pick a piece to donate, I decided that this piece, though personal and a piece that I wanted to keep, would be better served helping Pam [Ott, president of S.W.R.O.] and her rescue organization.”

All of the proceeds from the auction will go directly to the shelter to help provide veterinary care, vaccines and shelter for many of the strays the rescue takes in. This is a fine opportunity for fans to get their hands on a Lee original, whose art is known for its dark and moody feel, while helping a worthwhile organization.
