In 1942, several varieties of Superman syroco-style figures were produced.
The figure was a promotional item by DC Comics and was given to distributors and
retailers. DC Comic artist Wayne Boring designed the figure of which three
versions exist. There is one figure made of wood composition with brown and red
accents, a fully painted figure, and also a rare painted figure mounted on an
ashtray base.
The brown and red accent figure is scarce with the fully painted version
being rare, and the ashtray variety being very rare with only two examples
known.
