Gaming at New York Comic Con

The New York Comic Con has seen major growth in videogame exhibitors for their 2009 event. Set for this weekend, February 6-8, 2009 at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City, officials at NYCC have noted that videogames have become a bigger and bigger part of the show, with this year bringing the largest segment for gamers.

Major exhibitors from the videogame industry will be showcasing their products and presenting the newest games to fans. Their booths will occupy 11,000 square feet of exhibit space, marking a 50 percent increase from last year. Videogame companies involved in this show include Activision, Atari, Codemasters, Electronic Arts, Konami Digital Entertainment, Namco Bandai Games America, SouthPeak Games, TC Digital, Cryptic Studios, Mythic Entertainment, Rockstar Games, Sega, THQ, and Ubisoft.

“I am enormously pleased and gratified to see how much and how fast our videogame component has grown since last year,” Show Manager Lance Fensterman said. “From the get go, one of our principal goals at New York Comic Con has been to build on our core interest, which is comics, by expanding outwards to include other interests…I couldn’t be happier that videogaming is now taking a leading role in all of this.”
