Mickey Mouse Enters The Delta Dimension!

Italian Disney master Romano Scarpa is celebrated for numerous milestones. The late Scarpa created Uncle Scrooge's wannabe love interest, Brigitta MacBridge. He turned Glittering Goldie and the Phantom Blot into recurring characters. And he carried "Mouse Man" Floyd Gottfredson's characterization of a thoughtful, emotional, and two-fisted Mickey into the modern era. This week Scarpa's most legendary story makes its American debut in Mickey Mouse Adventures #11, a $7.95, 128-page manga format book. You know you want to join us for it!

"The Delta Dimension!" Where's that? What's that? It all starts when Mickey's town is blanketed by candy snow and dazed by brightly glowing sleet! Most folks think the wacky weather is a hi-tech publicity stunt, but the truth is much scarier. Mouseton is in fact under siege by a mystery madman... a madman who will cover the city with poison if his huge protection fees aren't paid! Racing against time to get to the bottom of things, Mickey finds himself hunted by a superpowered, futuristic being... and then transported to that being's alternate world -- where Mickey's old-time mentor, Dr. Einmug, unveils a terrifying truth! Featuring both a new pal for Mickey and a splendid old enemy, the 71-page "Delta Dimension" is Scarpa's sequel to Gottfredson's 1937 classic "Sky Island" (most recently reprinted in Walt Disney's Comics and Stories 582-583). You owe it to yourself to check it out!

And then stick around for this issue's two outrageous backup stories, both featuring appearances by classic Disney bad guys. In "Back in the Box," by Stefan Petrucha and Flemming Andersen, Gyro Gearloose is going on vacation... and entrusts Donald with his lab, as long as Donald makes sure not to open a certain big, inviting box. What could be inside? And what happens when a criminal syndicate steals the box right out from under Donald's beak?
Finally, in Don Markstein's and Joaquin Sanchez's "Quadruple Threat," it's Mickey who's in trouble when an earth-control plot seems to involve the Phantom Blot, Professors Ecks, Doublex, and Triplex, and a crooked radio station to boot. Can Mickey and Detective Casey foil the super-villainous scheme, or will they end up as vassals to a tyrannical world ruler?
