Who Wants to Be a Superhero? will be back for a second season on the
Sci Fi Channel, according to press reports. The so-called reality series, hosted
by Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee, features contestants who create superhero
alter egos. The would-be protectors of the common man compete in a series of
challenges that test their aptitudes and personal attributes.
"Who
Wants to Be a Superhero? was a success for us on many levels last summer,"
Mark Stern, SCI FI's executive vice president, original programming, said in a
press release. "The show garnered great reviews, attracted a record-breaking
number of younger viewers to the channel and held its own against some very
stiff competition on Thursday nights."
As with Season 1, the winning
character will appear in comic book form.
The series will expand from six
episodes to ten for Season 2. Comic book artist Matt Haley will be among the
returning behind-the-camera personnel, serving as creative consultant and
illustrator.
