Sotheby's and Sports Cards Plus Baseball Auction Realizes Over $4.6 Million

This is Pee Wee Reese’s 1955 World Series Ring. Sold with a bronze plaque commemorating the Dodger’s victory, it realized $69,000.

Everyone from CBS to CNN was talking about the Babe Ruth bat that sold for $1.25 million. However, that is not the only story in this incredible auction. There were some exceptional items offered, and Sotheby's did a fantastic job of bringing them to the collector's attention.

While Babe's bat got all the attention, other fantastic-looking pieces of Babe Ruth memorabilia were also offered offered. Even among so much, there was one Babe Ruth autographed baseball that stood out among all the rest. It was graded at near mint to mint and featured Babe's signature on the sweet spot of the ball. It is considered among the finest Babe Ruth balls extant. It realized $46,000.
