Heritage Coin Auction Realizes $31.5 Million

1793 Chain 1 cent realized $86,250

The details of the Heritage Auction Galleries' Long Beach U.S. Coins Signature Auction are amazing. There were 6,919 lots and the auction proper took place September 13-16 in Long Beach, California. Those lots realized $13,320,264. The Long Beach On Line Session contained an additional 3,600 lots and realized $1,061,478.

Heritage's Long Beach Currency Signature Auction, containing 4,504 lots, realized $14,080,508, and Heritage's Ancient and World Coins Signature Auction, containing 2634 lots, realized $3,237,314. Heritage's After Auction sales for all events are continuing to push the total prices realized higher, and the total is expected to be much closer to $32 Million.

“Heritage's September Long Beach Signature Auction of U.S coins,” noted Heritage President Greg Rohan in a recent press release, “contained several wonderful anchor consignments, chief among them being Part One of the Troy Wiseman Collection. In addition to his many Registry Coins, we also sold Mr. Wiseman's token collections: Hard Times, Merchant, Trade, Sutler, & Civil War. In FUN 2007 in Orlando, we will sell his incredible collections of Colonial coins and Hobo nickels. Troy Wiseman is an exceptional collector and businessman, and as a philanthropist is directly confronting the global orphan problem through the worldwide ministry of WorldOrphans.org.

Additional anchor consignors included: The Big Tex Registry Collection of Walking Liberty Halves; The Catfish Creek Collection; The Della Collection of Liberty Quarter Eagles (#1 PCGS Registry Collection With Varieties); The Manistee Collection; and The Tigard Oregon Small Cent Collection.
