Foster Sunday Art Brings $12,650

Don Heck’s splash page for The Unrinseable Ironed Man Meets …Magnut the Robot Biter (from Not Brand Ech #2) realized $1,540 

Russ Cochran's recent auction saw strong bidding across the board. With original art from EC. (see Scoop's coverage of the Picto-Fiction art in this week's edition), Hal Foster, Disney Studios, Chester Gould, Harold Gray, Marie Severin, Walt and many others, the event was among the strongest that Cochran has ever had. The event closed late on March 13, 2007. The auction was held on eBay LiveAuctioneers.

Highlights include:

-Harold Gray Little Orphan Annie daily dated 06-28-67 realized $792.
-Two Barney Baxter dailies by Frank Miller went for $484.
-Two Terry and the Pirate dailies by Mile Caniff sold for $792.
-Al Capp's work on two consecutive Li'l Abner dailies featuring Fearless Fosdick sold for $1,056.
- Walt Kelly's art for a Sunday Pogo dated 09-08-63 realized $924.
-Flash Gordon Sunday by Mac Raboy sold for $1,320
-Another Raboy Flash Gordon Sunday dated 02/15/50 brought $1,144.
-A complete 7 page story titled The invisible Mr. Mann from Get Lost #2 by Andru/Esposito realized $1,815.

-Hal Fosters art for a Sunday Prince Valiant dated 01/31/71 sold for $12,650

Of special note are the incredible prices seen for art from the EC series Picto-Fiction. This includes the $19,800 brought for Reed Crandall's cover art to Terror Illustrated #2. Scoop is covering that part of the auction in a separate article in this week's issue.
