BLB's Comic Sale on eBay for a Good Cause

In the March 14, 2008 edition of Scoop, in an article entitled “With A Little Help From His Friends…,” we related that comics dealer and historian Robert L. Beerbohm had found himself in urgent need of dual hip replacement operations. His joint sockets were deteriorating at an accelerated rate.
A few weeks later we were able to report that through sales on his eBay store, he had raised a good percentage of the money he needed to travel to India to have the operations done (the cost there is 20% of what it would be in the United States).
Now he’s closing in on his goal and hopes, with a little further assistance, to make the trip in April 2009. Toward that end, this past weekend he launched a special sale on his eBay store, BLB COMICS, and he asks that fans who have enjoyed learning from his comics business history articles running in The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide since 1997 to scroll through his offerings to see if something there might strike their fancy.
His selection is wide and covers a huge portion of comic book history ranging from the Platinum Age to the Bronze Age, with issues graded from 9.4 down to mid-grades. He said many issues are heavily discounted for the sale.
Additionally he is offering high-grade pulps, Big Little Books, and an assortment of original comic book and comic strip art.
Beerbohm told Scoop that the cartilage in his hip joints where the impacts hit have worn off at a faster rate, leaving the joints as bone on bone, a painful situation. He said that if he does not obtain replacement joints this year, he might never walk again.
Needless to say, he is anxious to get back to his passion, setting up at 25-30 comic conventions a year, as well as researching the earliest origins of the comic strip in America.
