Comic-Con in Pictures: Part Two

From Wednesday night, July 21 through Sunday, July 25, 2010, the San Diego Convention Center played host once again to Comic-Con International: San Diego as about 126,000 people descended on the city in search of the latest pop culture thrills.

Comic book publishers, dealers, creators, game makers, and plenty of Hollywood types were out in full force, and the July 21 release of the historic 40th anniversary edition of The Overstreet Comic Price Guide (and Bob Overstreet’s appearance as a special guest of the show) went over big.

“For us, after years of attending the convention, it was very interesting to see it in a different light as we passed out copies of The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #40 to the Overstreet Advisors and as Diamond Comic Distributors hosted Bob Overstreet for a couple of signings (one fan even brought a copy of Guide #3!),” said J.C. Vaughn, Associate Publisher of Gemstone Publishing. “We’re definitely looking forward to next year.”

In fact, if we hadn’t had so many Wi-Fi problems with our hotel, it might have been perfect. Ah, well...

As it was, we have more photos than ever to share with you, include this Main Event section which is once again the work of regular Scoop photographer and Ear.FM DJ Michael Solof.

The line to get in was long every day of the show...

And at times it stretched to the Marriott next door, which also hosted some convention panels and exhibits.

Got a boat? It might be the best way to get the show. The marina is right out back. You can see the Marriott (seen in the previous photo) at the far end of the convention center.

Should the con ever come under serious attack (beyond the cliche-ridden "[fill in the blank] invades Comic-Con!" of course), the US Navy and Marines are located very near by.

The new Hilton (which opened last year at the opposite end of the convention center) was also wrapped for the event, this one promoting Scott Pilgrim.

Expecting the traditional daytime heat and getting instead early morning drizzle on a couple of days, the convention planners looked smart for setting up the tents for folks lining up to get in Hall H and Room 20, where many of the most popular programs were held.
