Best Comic Trade Paperbacks of 2004 #9: The Black Forest
Image Comics; $9.95
The Black Forest is one of the most
compelling horror-themed “what if” stories we ever read. It's set
during the trench warfare days of World War I, and it ponders what would have
happened if the Germans had unleashed the Frankenstein Monster, werewolves and
what have you on the unsuspecting Allies. Writers Todd Livingston and Robert
Tinnell (both Hollywood writer/directors) and artist Neil Vokes (Parliament
of Justice) take horror fans for a great ride on this one. And here's
something else: this isn't the only book this incredible trio has on our top ten
list.
