Daisy Kutter: The Last Train
Viper Comics; $10.95
We had managed to overlook Daisy Kutter when it
first came out in mini-series form, but no such mistake this time. The
mini-series has now been collected into a handy, manga-sized edition that makes
you want to keep turning the pages until you realize that it's not only pretty
cool, it's a really good read. It has romance, grifters, high stakes poker
games, train robberies, action, adventure and more. Writer-artist Kazu
Kibuuishi, with deceptively simple, clean line work and gray tones, creates a
superb atmosphere in which the story is told. His panel construction and
storytelling abilities are great, and we can hardly wait to see more of his
work.
