IDW Publishing; $19.95
At last! At last! Huzzah!
John
Ostrander and Tim Truman's Grimjack is finally back in print. The Legend Of
Grimjack collects his original adventures in trade paperback form, and
there's also a mini-series of new adventures as well (we'll review the first
issue of the new mini-series next week, by the way). There's also a few new
pages in the trade.
If you're new to Grimjack - Oh, what you've missed! -
John Gaunt (Grimjack) is a former mercenary and current resident of Cynosure, a
pan-dimensional city where just about everything can and does happen. It was
grim and gritty when that meant you stood apart from the crowd (unlike today's
many followers and also-rans). Ostrander and Truman infused a
Conan-meets-film-noir feeling to it, and that feeling has stood up wonderfully
in the 22 years since this material first saw print.
IDW should be
congratulated for the production values on this collection, and we'll definitely
be looking forward to the subsequent volumes in the series.
