Feast of the Seven Fishes
Allegheny Image Factory; $14.95
This is one of the most enjoyable
blends of comics and another medium we've ever seen. Bob Tinnell, the co-writer
of Image Comics' The Black Forest and The Wicked West and
Speakeasy Comics upcoming graphic novel The Living and The Dead, sets
ahead his horror hat for a moment and delves into his family's Italian heritage
with a deeply human comic strip called Feast of the Seven Fishes. This
wonderful book collects all the strips in the series and adds in a cookbook
featuring the dishes described in the strip and more. Teamed with relative
newcomer Ed Piskor on art for the first 60 strips and Amazing Spider-Man
Sunday page artist Alex Saviuk for the second 60, Tinnell captures the themes of
Italian-American heritage and assimilation, family, and more. The book has a
foreword by our own Steve Geppi to boot!
