Believe it or not, the 1980s hit TV series is back as a comic book. Created by writer-producer Stephen J. Cannell (The Rockford Files, Profit, The A-Team), The Greateast American Hero was the story of an average guy who was given a super-powered suit that allowed him to perform great feats…only he couldn’t always control what it did. Nonetheless, he did what any comic book loving American would do: he fought crime.
William Katt portrayed Ralph Hinkley, the everyday guy who got the super suit but not the instruction manual, I Spy veteran Robert Culp played FBI Agent Bill Maxwell, and Connie Sellecca was lawyer Pam Davidson, Hinkley’s love interest, and eventually his wife. The series lasted three seasons, spawned a hit song, and then went away, but it seemingly has never been far from the hearts of fans or the show’s participants. Katt is the driving force in this particular resurgence, a fun trip down memory lane that could actually lead someplace interesting. We’ll be along for the ride.
